Yesterday I presented our voice simulation tool at the Chicago eLearning Showcase and mentioned to my audience how I am really looking forward to more content in the augmented reality arena. No one in the audience really knew what this was so I thought I would provide some links to examples of Augmented Reality Examples.
There are some tools out there for developers to create this content and you might run across examples that work with cameras on tablets or computers that create a hologram-like image to appear in front of you. You can create a black and white image that is laid on a document, shirt, product etc. and then when you hold a camera over the image it turns it into a video or image of something. Think of the various training applications you can create with this.
For example, a fast food restaurant could create a series of black and white images in a work station area and the new hire moves along the food prep line w/ a mobile phone or tablet to reveal what happens at that work station for each job task. It allows you to place the person in the real work setting, demonstrate visually what will take place at that station but doesn’t require another live trainer to be present and they don’t have to use up inventory for training purposes.
I’m looking forward to more developments on this.
